Extras por Summer Campers
Pocket money:
We do not recommend sending much money with your children as everything is included. However, there is a small shop selling crisps, sweets, drinks and ice cream, a pool table and drinks machine. Something like 5 € per day is enough for them to play a game of pool and get the following; ice-cream, drink and bag of crisps. We collect money on check in, write their names on the envelopes and the amount handed in and put it in our safe. Each morning they request an amount and this is written on the envelope.
Summer Camp Hoodies:
Super colourful Hoodies are now available as a memento of your child’s summer camp. Can be reserved and paid for when booking, or are available during camp.
Daily Schedule
A typical day is as follows:
Summer Camp Activity Descriptions
ROPES COURSE CHALLENGE
Challenges include balancing on cables, leaping to a swinging trapeze and climbing poles and cargo nets; all while 15 metres above the ground.
CLIMBING AND ABSEILING TOWER
Climbing routes for all levels of climber on a 30 metre high wooden, purpose-built structure. There are hand and foot holds for you to use as you ascend at varying degrees of difficulty, and then an abseiling wall for descent.
HILL WALKING
We organise half-day and full-day guided walks at all levels. So whether it is a low-level walk on the old Famine track along the shores of Killary Fjord or a full-day summit of one of the Twelve Bens or Maamturks, we will guide you safely and provide you with the local knowledge and information you need to make this a really memorable experience.
ARCHERY
Using the bow and arrow, you will need a steady arm and a sharp eye to hit the target with accuracy in this sport of focus and skill. We have created a purpose-built archery range surrounded by stunning scenery to cater for all levels of ability and make this a really enjoyable outdoors experience.
ORIENTEERING
Working in pairs or teams you will receive a map & will be instructed in basic map reading skills. You will then have to make your way unaided from marker to marker in the shortest time possible and of course without getting lost!
CHALLENGES
Our Challenges are a series of different tasks. Your group is divided into teams competing against each other to claim victory. There is a series of mental and physical tasks that each team must do and be awarded on their achievements. The easy tasks will carry the least amount of points and the hardest the most. Tasks are set up at varying distances from the star point and set by your instructor.
BUSHCRAFT AND SURVIVAL CHALLENGE
Incorporating the 5 core elements of group survival: Navigation, Team Work, Food, Shelter Building and Fire Lighting, your team will learn all the core skills before being put to the test to complete the challenges on our 100 acres site.
GIANT SWING
Sitting in a comfortable harness you and your friend will be hoisted up to a height of 20 metres. Then it is a self-release system – pull the cord and free fall towards the ground before swinging back and forth.
ARCHERY COMBAT
Archery Tag is best played with a group. It offers the newest and hottest family friendly combat sport that can be played indoors or out. It utilizes archery with patent-pending foam tipped arrows to play the game. Players divide into two teams and hide behind obstacles. For ages 10 years and over.
TURF CHALLENGE
Expect to be running through the energy-sapping Connemara bog, jumping into the pure waters of the fjord and scrambling over many an obstacle put in your path! Mucky and challenging fun.
SKY FALL
Traverse a 40 meter ropes suspension bridge to the tower! In the tower is a shaft which is 60 feet from the ground. Supported in a full body harness, you will step into the shaft and free fall for 40 feet in a jump that has gradual deceleration to land softly on the ground.
ROCK CLIMBING AND ABSEILING
Climbing and abseiling on the magnificent rock faces of the crags of Connemara with routes to challenge every level of climber. Reach for the top of the rock face using the natural holds you see above you and then prepare to abseil to the bottom again.
KAYAKING
Fun sessions splashing around in stunning fjord or longer Sea Kayaking trips exploring the rugged Connemara coastline. Sea kayaks, sit on tops and single cockpit play boats available.
MINI WATER OBSTACLE
A great obstacle course on the water which is simply heaps of fun! Includes a slide, a 4 sided climbing frame, 2 small trampolines connected by a balance beam. Bounce around any way you want while trying your best to bounce others off and finish by launching yourself into the refreshing (!!) waters of the fjord.
GORGE WALKING
Scrambling your way up through a natural gorge that takes you on an adventure through our private gorge climbing up the river, over rocks and through sparkling plunge pools and rushing waterfalls.
RAFT BUILD
This is a really great team activity where planning and building skills are just as important as your ability to paddle your raft. You are given a mix of different materials to build a raft and then within your team, you have to decide who will sail it to a designated point on the water.
RINGO RIDES
You sit into the large inflatable ringo and hold on tight to the handles, and you are then towed across the surface of the water at high speed by the speedboat.
